This is a utility to estimate the dimensions of a feature after sulphuric anodising or hard anodising. It is generally not necessary to calculate the effect of chromic anodising because growth is less than 3µm per surface - which isn't usually significant. Please note that this is an estimate only and relies on this tool being used correctly. Contact us and we can verify calculations.

Feature Type

Outer diameters get larger, inner diameters get smaller. Please note that this calculator is unsuitable for thread dimensions, which are rather more complex.

Results

Warning: This calculator assumes a 50:50 ingress/growth ratio. For 2000 and 7000 series aluminium in particular, this may vary up to 70:30. This is likely to be a significant consideration at higher thicknesses, such as with hard anodising.
